Frequestly Asked Questions
Q. How much do decals cost?
A. Our goal is to make quality decals available at an affordable price for everyone. The cost of the decal will depend on the size. As custom orders are made to your size specifications, we will not know the cost until we know the size you would like. See the below question for more information on sizing. Custom drawn designs are also factored into the price as well as the amount or work involved and the number of colors used.
Q. How do I apply my decal?
A. Your decal will come with detailed application instructions as well as a small "practice" decal. You should read through all of the instructions before applying your decal. How-to videos are also available on the "How-to Videos" page of this website.
Q. How big can I make my decal?
A. Decals can be made up to about 13 inches tall and 38 inches long per character. Some things can be made larger depending on their shape. If you would like lettering done and would like to have letters on a single sheet, they should be no taller than 13 inches and no longer than 38 inches. Large signs can easily be made by applying 2 or 3 decals for each line of text, etc.The height of the character will determine its length and vise versa. If you need something to be a specific size, for example 5 in. x 7 in. then the aspect of the image can often be slightly altered to fit the required size.
Q. Are vinyl decals removable?
A. Yes, while the decals are made to last for many years, they are easy to remove. Simply scrape up an edge of the decal (the edge of an old credit card works well for this) and slowly peel it away. Decals are easiest to remove when it is warm. If it is cold outside and you are removing a decal from a car window, park facing the sun and try running your defroster. If you are removing a decal from a delicate surface, briefly run a hair dryer over the decal to warm up the adhesive before removing the decal. If there is any adhesive residue left behind, simply wipe the surface with a wet soapy cloth or a little Goo Gone. Please note that removing a decal will destroy it.
Q. Will my decal have a background?
A. No. The decals are computer cut from a sheet of vinyl and do not have a background unless otherwise noted. The background color will be the color of the surface the decal is placed on. The black background on a proof is used to show how a decal will look when placed on a black background, such as a tinted window. If the decal has areas which are cut out of it, the background color will show through these areas as well. For example, a decal of a paint horse which has spots removed from the horse’s body will have the background color showing through. A paint horse cut in black vinyl and placed on a pink surface will make for a black horse with pink spots. If placed on a white surface, the horse will be black with white spots. Multi-colored layered decals will not have a background, but a second color can be added over the top so you could have a black horse with white spots on a pink wall.

Q. How long will my decal last?
A. Our decals are made with high quality vinyl that will last approximately 7 years outdoors under normal conditions (we have seen them last much longer too). They have an almost indefinite lifespan indoors. Some vinyl types, such as metallic gold and silver, have a slightly shorter life expectancy when used outdoors. Decals placed on a rear windshield under a wiper will have a shorter lifespan. This is for gloss vinyl, out matte vinyl is indoor vinyl and should last until removed from its surface.
Q. Can my car decal go through an automatic car wash?
A. Yes, a normal automatic car wash should not damage your decal in any way.
Q. Does it cost extra to personalize a decal?
A. No, it does not usually cost any extra to personalize a decal by adding a name or saying. The text will simply be factored into the size. If the personalized text greatly changes the size of a decal which already has a specified size, the cost of the decal will change to reflect that.
Q. Can I e-mail a picture of the design I want?
A. Yes, we will be happy to work on a custom design for you or reproduce a design for you. A small fee may be added to the cost of the decal if the design is complicated as reproducing a picture for a decal requires that we hand draw the design within our cutting software.
Q. Can you make a decal of my logo?
A. Yes, we can reproduce most logos as decals. Not all logos work well for die-cut decals, but many do. There is a one time $10 setup fee to draw a simple logo as it requires that we hand draw the design within our cutting software.
Q. I damaged my decal while applying it. Can I get a free replacement?
A. No. We cannot be responsible for replacing a decal which you have damaged. If there is a problem with your decal, we will be happy to do what we can to help you out, but will not replace a decal for free which has been improperly installed. Please read all of the directions before applying your decal and follow them closely. If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them for you.
